The Kicker Krewe is in a season of Celebration. This past weekend we celebrated our newly officially adopted grandsons all weekend, with building a wooden playset to time with family and friends from afar concluding with a party complete with a water slide! Over the past 60 days, we have celebrated five birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s day (both were firsts for my daughter and son-in-love), and high school graduation. Whew! That is a lot of celebrating. However, this season will go, and a different one will take its place.
Solomon pens a beautiful poem about the seasons of life and that there is an occasion for everything and a time for every activity under heaven:
3 There is an occasion for everything,
and a time for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to give birth and a time to die;
a time to plant and a time to uproot;
3 a time to kill and a time to heal;
a time to tear down and a time to build;
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn and a time to dance;
5 a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones;
a time to embrace and a time to avoid embracing;
6 a time to search and a time to count as lost;
a time to keep and a time to throw away;
7 a time to tear and a time to sew;
a time to be silent and a time to speak;
8 a time to love and a time to hate;
a time for war and a time for peace.
No matter where we find ourselves today, there is a season for it. We have a choice to embrace that season or to be mad about where we are. Our lives are so fleeting, and we are on this earth such a short time. Each of the seasons can teach us and make us stronger. Let’s lean into each season, grow from the lessons, and encourage others along the way.
