love is a fruit of the spirit

Love your Neighbor as yourself

Indeed, if you keep the royal law prescribed in the Scripture, Love your neighbor as yourself,  you are doing well. But if you show favoritism,  you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.

Indeed! I love this word! It is defined, “used to emphasize a statement or response confirming something already suggested”.

If you keep the Royal Law, God’s law, you are doing well. There is so much in this verse!

GOD is LOVE!

A couple of verses that address Love your neighbor as yourself:

  • Leviticus 19:18 Do not take revenge or bear a grudge against members of your community, but love your neighbor as yourself;  I am Yahweh.
  • Matthew 22:39 The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.

Often, the question comes up – “who is your neighbor?’ Everyone! We innately have a love of self. A sense to take care of ourselves. And as mothers, we often put others before ourselves, but this is deeper than that. This is a call to love others that may be unlovable, or the sandpaper people either in our lives or those we come into contact with. And loving others means being kind. It is really not complicated. Showing love is living out the fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22-23:

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love,  joy,  peace, patience,  kindness,  goodness, faith,  23 gentleness,  self-control.

You will also notice in this verse, that James says, “you are doing well.” Notice there is action required. Doing and not just hearing. You can be the Kindness the world needs today!
