Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.
I love this definition of biblical wisdom: Wisdom means having the knowledge and understanding to recognize the right course of action and having the will and courage to follow it. If we are deficient in knowing the correct course of action we are to ask God for direction, even though He knows that we have the need and He will guide us.
Not only, do I need to ask God for guidance, I should also ask for the courage to follow the guidance that He gives. So often, we ask for wisdom, but then are paralyzed by fear and don’t follow the direction that God has given.
Our action today is twofold. First, understand that God wants us to ask when we are lacking wisdom. Second, we need to take action on the knowledge that is given, even when we are scared. Do one thing today that scares you!
