Blessed with Flying Colors

12 A man who endures trials  is blessed, because when he passes the test he will receive the crown  of life that God  has promised to those who love Him.

We are certainly enduring trials right now in our world situation. Webster defines trials: a test of faith, patience, or stamina through subjection to suffering or temptation. Our faith, patience and stamina are all being tested, I know mine are in ways, I would never have anticipated. Our lives have taken a turn that is requiring many different things from us. Endurance in ways that are stretching us and trials that are significant. In order to pass the test with flying colors (as I typed “with flying colors”, I thought, do I really know what that saying means? The origin is military and is the flags or ensigns flown on a ship, indicating who the ship belonged to). I think that is a very apt description, we want to pass our test with Christ shining through us.

If you get discouraged today about your trials, think of the colors you are flying and “the crown which is life” or eternal life that God promised for those who love Him. Our hope is in the eternal and our trials are just temporary and we are blessed!
