As I was sitting on the 2nd-floor balcony watching the ocean roll and out, a family walking in the parking lot caught my eye. The parking lot is U-shaped, with parking places on each side surrounded by a large grassy area in the middle flanked by large bushes on each side. The family was going from one side of the parking lot to the other, and each took a different route. Dad went through the middle, pushed through the large landscape bushes on both sides. Mom started on the grass and then navigated around the outside to go around the bushes out of the way. The son found a small opening in the bushes and crawled through. All 3 made it to the other side and the destination, but all 3 had a different experience and route.
Show Love to others
That is precisely life! Each of us has our own journey in life and have the freedom to choose the route that we would like to take. Along our way, sometimes we might need to go around the obstacles, and other times, we may need to crawl under the bushes or break right through. But, our destination is the same: To Love Others. How we navigate through that looks different for each of us.
We are reminded of this truth in Mark 12:31, “The second is: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other command greater than these.”
Today is Monday, a new beginning to the week. Hopefully, you were able to refresh over the weekend and get ready for a new week. What route will you take this week? As I reflect on the week ahead, I am considering my route. Are there some obstacles (people) in my life that I need to tackle and push through to show love to this week? I am challenging us (me too) to go out of the way and show love and kindness to one person today.
